Qualifications and Experience

About me

From the age of 15 I knew I wanted to be a therapist, at 18 choosing to study a degree called Creative Expressive Therapies. Following this, I began working at the eating disorder charity I previously volunteered at, deciding to get some experience before I planned to train in Art Therapy. Within this time it dawned on me that not one approach works for everyone, and I found 'Integrative Psychotherapy', which is ultimately what I trained in.

Many people haven't heard the term integrative psychotherapy, so don't worry if that includes you! It means the therapist has trained to work within several therapeutic approaches, pulling on elements from all of the theories. It allows us to work flexibly, depending on your needs or aims at different times. For example, you may want to understand your thoughts and how these relate to your beliefs, but also process past trauma. We would be able to give space to both without being confined to one way of working. You can read more detail about what modalities are included here.

A personal touch

Within those years working for the charity, I faced some of my own challenges, and began to reconsider what type of therapy training I wanted to go into. I accessed a number of different therapies myself, all of which were beneficial in different ways at different times. My passion to enter into this career grew even stronger as I saw the difference engaging in therapy was making to me and my life.

Alongside my work, I love to read and I'm part of a book club. Recently I have started painting again, having fun with acrylics as well as watercolour. I love being outside too, and am entering the world of gardening, which means not only is my collection of indoor plants growing, but outdoor plants too!
